September 17th marks the 80th birthday of one of the greatest racing drivers of all time, Sir Stirling Moss.
So remarkable is his career, that Sir Stirling was known during his career as “Mr. Motor Racing”.
Sir Stirling’s first race was on September 18, 1948….a day after he had just turned 19!
Sir Stirling won that race.
During his storied racing career, Sir Stirling entered 529 races, won 212 of them….a remarkable 40% winning percentage. Of those races and wins, he had 66 Formula 1 races, and won 16 of them.
At just under 25 years of ago, he was the youngest driver to set the fastest lap in Formula 1.
He also had the most Grand Prix entries…66.
